Rack unit planning guide
A rack unit (U) is 1.75 inches of vertical space. Good U planning reserves room for cable management, PDUs, and airflow — then locks the plan in a visual tool so installs match the design.
Leave service space
Do not pack every U. Cable managers, blanking panels, and future growth prevent rework.
